Background of the Study
Education is a fundamental driver of socio-economic development, and its effectiveness is often shaped by the geopolitical environment in which it is implemented. In Ilorin East Local Government Area (LGA) in Kwara State, educational development has been influenced by the region’s political, ethnic, and religious divisions. These geopolitical factors determine access to educational resources, the allocation of funds, and the quality of education offered to students. Ilorin East, being part of a state with significant ethnic and religious diversity, has faced challenges in ensuring equitable educational opportunities for all residents (Oluwatoyin & Musa, 2024). Political dynamics at both the local and state levels often determine the prioritization of educational policies and infrastructure development. The study aims to explore how geopolitical divisions in Ilorin East have impacted educational development, with particular focus on disparities in access to education, school infrastructure, and quality of instruction (Adamu & Aliyu, 2023).
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Geopolitical divisions in Ilorin East LGA have led to disparities in educational development, with some communities receiving more attention in terms of funding, infrastructure, and educational resources than others. These divisions, particularly along ethnic and religious lines, have contributed to unequal educational outcomes across the region, resulting in lower literacy rates and poor educational performance in certain areas (Oluwatoyin & Musa, 2024). The study seeks to evaluate how these geopolitical factors have shaped educational development in Ilorin East and suggest ways to bridge the gaps in educational access and quality.

The findings will inform local government authorities, educational policymakers, and stakeholders in Kwara State about the importance of addressing these divisions to promote inclusive and sustainable educational growth (Adamu & Aliyu, 2023).
1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses solely on Ilorin East LGA in Kwara State and investigates the effects of geopolitical divisions on educational development within this region. Limitations include potential biases in gathering data from communities with diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds and difficulties in measuring the direct impact of geopolitical divisions on educational outcomes.
